Club Foot Orchestra

My very favorite annual concert is tomorrow, June 21st, the solstice gig known as Garden of Memory. I’ll be performing with didgeridoo master Stephen Kent, we’ll be playing our chestnuts, our new works, and some improvisations. Stop by for a bit and then wonder on through the cavernous halls with 50+ musicians gracing every square inch of the Julia Morgan designed treasure of a building, the Chapel of Chimes. Not to be missed I reckon!

Early August will bring Trance Mission to the Indijinus Festival in Oregon. They don’t have the lineup online yet but check back soon, we’ll be performing either August 10 or 11th in case you’re in the Oregon ‘hood!

Club Foot Orchestra will be performing a marathon of some of our silent film scores as part of the San Francisco Silent Film Festival on September 15th at the glorious Castro Theatre. Bring your kids, grannies, and grandkids!

It is with profound gratitude that I have received the venerable San Francisco Arts Commission award to compose a work on climate change in collaboration with Cellista and her Juxtapositions Chamber Ensemble in 2019. More on that as it develops!

Hope to see you out there!

Hey there,
I hope you’re enjoying this incredible weather we’re having. And what a great day for the country with the passing of two historic supreme court decisions. To all my lovely gay friends, MWWAA! big fat congrats! The world is always a better place when equality is installed.

If you haven’t already purchased my new download only release, please check out the clips of Peter, I’m getting alot of critical praise for this score I did for ROCO Dance. I think you’d dig the music!

I’ve got a busy summer and hope you’ll make it out to several of my performances.
This Friday, 6pm I’ll be playing solo at the Mercury Cafe in a benefit for the wonderful KPOO radio, 89.5 on your FM dial. Blowing through some clarinets and singin a couple songs. There’s many musicians on the bill, come out and support true community radio.

In July I’m psyched to be performing at on of my all time favorite Bay Area venues the acoustically phenomenal Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley.
Hey! they have wine in the lobby now so you can sip and hum along with my new and old songs, some creations by guitarist David James and our rockin’ Joni Mitchell cover of ‘Carey’ that was one of the hits of the Blue show last year.

Come hear Club Foot Orchestra with Gamelon Sekar Jaya perform Richard Marriott’s score to Legong: Dance of the Virgins. Banned in Bali this film is really something to see. It’s part of the SF Silent Film Festival and we’ve got a Kickstarter going to pay the musicians, pony up if you can! Every little bit helps.

Check my site for other opportunities to hear my various groups live, come out and shake your stuff, and have a lovely, lush summer!

Hey there,
Thanks for visiting my site. I’ve a score being premiered June 1 & 2 with Roco Dance Company at the
Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Come watch 200 teens and kids dance to my music! Here’s a sneak preview of a song I wrote for this production on Soundcloud.

I’ve released some new music on Bandcamp, a score I premiered with AXIS Dance this past April.

I’ve a busy summer performing solo and with The Beth Custer Ensemble, Trance Mission Duo, and Club Foot Orchestra. They’re all posted on my home page. Lots of chances to hear me play.

Thanks again, have a lovely summer.

Yours Truly,
Beth

Thanks to all of you who came out to this past weekend’s performances of AXIS Dance Company’s 25th Anniversary premiere of If Then, Would You choreographed beautifully by Vic Marks. The score I created with my trio of Jan Jackson, David James and myself can be heard and purchased here:

And thanks to all of you who came out to Club Foot Orchestra’s premiere of Richard Marriott’s score to the revised 140 minute silent film Metropolis by Fritz Lang at SF Jazz Festival. After thirty years of performing with CFO, I hope we can finally tour Europe with this one.

Upcoming shows include Clarinet Thing on May 10th at Old First Church. June 1 & 2 come hear my new score for Roco Dance’s production of Peter Pan for 150 teenagers at the Marin Center. I’ll be performing solo at SF Jazz on June 15th in their Church of the Advent.

See you at one or all of these this upcoming month and thanks again.

Cheers,

Beth
